I’d like to add on a pergola at the back entrance but all AI does is remodel the existining look. I gave it description of what i want, still no good. Any ideas?

What tool are you using?
I would use the replace tool with a large mask to accomplish this.
The remodel exterior tool does not take imperative instructions and is specifically trained and designed to not change the existing structure of your home/room.
